Report – Arsenal handed transfer boost for perfect Thomas Partey replacement which is not Romeo Lavia

Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich is no longer untouchable at the Allianz Arena according to recent reports, and could be a perfect target for Arsenal

The future of Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been a talking point during the summer transfer window.

Partey endured a difficult end to the 2022/23 campaign, struggling for form during the latter part of the season before Mikel Arteta eventually dropped him from the starting line-up for January signing Jorginho. The Ghana international has since been linked with a move to Italy and Saudi Arabia and we understand that the Gunners would be open to selling this summer if a suitable offer were to come in.

Southampton’s Romeo Lavia has been mooted as a potential replacement, with both Liverpool and Chelsea also said to be interested in the 19-year-old. Another player that had been linked earlier in the window is Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich.

Back in May, Spanish outlet Marca reported that the north London club admired Kimmich, who has established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most consistent performers over the last few years. Now, Kicker journalist Georg Holzner has claimed that Bayern no longer considers the German international as “untouchable” or “unsellable”, with the Bavarian giants willing to discuss a potential transfer should they receive a high offer.

The 28-year-old would likely command a hefty fee, with the aforementioned report from Marca claiming that the Bundesliga champions value him at €60million (£52million). But considering his elite passing range and intelligent reading of the game, that price is more than fair.

As per fbref, Kimmich registered 315 progressive passes, 272 passes into the final third and 68 passes into the penalty area last season, ranking first in each of those respective categories across the Bundesliga. His versatility also makes him a great tactical option for any coach, capable of operating as a holding midfielder, a number eight or even at right-back.

But the Bayern star has remained coy when asked about a potential move away from the Allianz Arena. Speaking while away on international duty last month, Kimmich told German outlet BILD, via the Evening Standard: “It was difficult not to come across it [the rumours].

“Generally, I’m not too invested in the rumours. I still have, as everyone knows, two years left on my contract and we have big plans [for those two years] at Bayern.”
