Two possible ways Chelsea can line up with Moises Caicedo.
Chelsea are pushing to complete the signing of Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.
They want the deal to be completed before the club starts their pre-season tour and plays their friendly games.
Caicedo is a versatile, hard-working midfielder who is in the mould of N’Golo Kante and can be an ideal replacement for him.
With that being said, let’s look at two ways the Blues can line up with him next season.
Caicedo is expected to be the partner-in-crime for Enzo Fernandez in midfield, adding more steel to the middle of the park. The young midfielder is packed with energy, and he’ll be tasked to win back possession for Chelsea with his crunching tackles and pressing.
That could give Enzo more freedom to help control possession and create chances, while also going further forward to help Chelsea’s attack.
There is also a chance that Caicedo plays deeper than usual against certain opponents to help protect the Chelsea backline. This can allow the Blues to soak up more pressure and defend deeper if needed.
Caicedo’s ability to win possession in key areas and distribute the ball forward can help the Blues with counter-attacks too.
Christopher Nkunku’s versatility means he can also play as a no.8 if needed, while Enzo can play just ahead of Caicedo in this formation.
