Reece James’ father Nigel has given an interview to The Beautiful Game podcast, discussing his son.
“Right now, and I don’t see anything changing, he is a Chelsea player,” he said. “Until Chelsea wants to sell him.
“He’s been there since the age of six. His ambition is to wear the armband. The past season just gone broke his heart. Off the pitch, after losing games, it really hurt him.”
Nigel James has also revealed that there was a time during Reece’s ‘bad patch’ at the Chelsea academy the full-back could have left the club. However, his mother insisted on staying at Cobham.
The England international has a contract until 2028 with the Blues and the length of the contract shows how committed he is to Chelsea.
