Arsenal have a serious job on their hands to challenge for the Premier League title again in the 2023/24 season.
The Gunners led eventual treble winners Manchester City for much of the campaign before being usurped and are now tasked with going again while making an impression on their return to the Champions League.
Failure in Europe would be disappointing given the ambitious and expensive summer Mikel Arteta’s side have enjoyed in the transfer market so far. Kai Havertz has arrived, with Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber expected to follow very soon.
Arsenal are very organised with their squad numbers with almost every first team member accounted for on the club website.
As it stands, here are Arsenal’s squad numbers for the 2023/24 campaign.

Kai Havertz has already been handed his new squad number by Arsenal and almost all of the returning loanees have also been allocated their digits. You may notice some shared numbers, so something will have to give there.

Arsenal squad numbers available to new signings
19 is ruled out given Leandro Trossard and Nicolas Pepe have it, while Arsenal don’t need anyone else trying to claim the 20 jersey, held jointly by Nuno Tavares and Jorginho. All of the main numbers with iconic significance have been taken, with only one player in the first team without a number.
The lowest number currently available is 22, so it’s going to be interesting to see what numbers Rice and Timber receive once those deals get over the line.
What numbers can Premier League players wear?
Despite the fact that outlandish numbers are seldom seen in the Premier League, with Rico Lewis’ 82 at Manchester City being the highest ever, any number between 1 and 99 is allowed.
The main rule is that it must be unique within the team. Also following tradition, goalkeepers will generally occupy numbers one and 13. Zero is also not allowed.
Can Premier League players change squad numbers?
Premier League players are only allowed to change their squad number during pre-season or if one is sold or loaned to another club in the January transfer window.
Clubs must submit their confirmed squad list – including shirt numbers – by a specified deadline each year and numbers cannot be changed thereafter. In 2021 that deadline was 1 September.
