Here is a roundup of the top Arsenal news and gossip from epl247.co.uk that we think you guys may have missed today
ARSENAL‘s new signing Alessia Russo says she is keen to add domestic medals to the Euros success she enjoyed with the England National side.
The Gunners had two bids for the 24-year-old rejected in January – including a world-record fee – but have now secured her services on a free transfer following the expiration of her United contract.
Russo hit 10 goals in the WSL last season as Marc Skinner’s side finished runners-up to champions Chelsea.
“I’m really excited to be here, and I can’t wait to get going,” Russo said after joining Arsenal, where she will wear the No 23 shirt.
“I want to win trophies – as does everyone in this club. I can’t wait to get stuck in and grow as a player – it’s a new challenge and a new environment.
“I think the growth of the women’s game has been incredible, but particularly at a club like Arsenal.
“The sell-out against Wolfsburg at Emirates Stadium last season was fantastic and I’m just really excited to be part of this club.”
It is a massive shock to see that Russo is leaving Man United – but she will certainly thrive in that ARSENAL attack that is for sure
This is a player that the club have been trying to sign for some time and now that she has made the move to the club – fans will be excited to see just what she can add to the attack.
But going by her performances for United and England – she will be a great addition to the side.
Albert Sambi Lokonga admits he is looking to leave ARSENAL this summer transfer window
Lokonga came to the Emirates with big expectations that he could have a massive impact on this current Gunners side – but that has not happened.
The young man has struggled for game time at the club and has only been a bit-part player under Mikel Arteta – and is once again considering his long-term future at the Emirates.
Now – amid all the speculation and rumours surrounding the young man and his future – he has admitted that he is looking to leave the Gunners this transfer window.
When asked about his plans for the upcoming season on the YouTube channel Wonhee Hyung, Lokonga said: “I don’t know.
“I will try to go somewhere where I can play so that’s the most important thing for me – to have some games and play game after game.”
Burnley are already keen on signing Lokonga this summer with Vincent Kompany keen on being reunited with the midfielder, having managed him at Anderlecht.
On his day – Partey can be one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and a man that Mikel Arteta can really rely on – but with Declan Rice on his way in – he will not be needed as much.
There are many players that are now making the move to the middle east – players that are still in their prime and ones that still have the ability to play at the very top of the game.
If the reports are true and Arsenal have given the green light for Thomas Partey to leave the club – it will come as no big surprise as there has been alot of speculation surrounding his future for a while.
But ARSENAL need depth for next season and dont need to sell before they buy.
