Tonight, Arsenal plays Newcastle United in the Premier League. It will be a tough game, but if the Gunners win, they will be 10 points ahead of the rest of the league and 10 points ahead of second place.
Arsenal picked up right where they left off after the World Cup break. After the last round of games, Mikel Arteta’s team increased their lead at the top of the Premier League table to seven points. Arsenal beat Brighton 4–2 on the road thanks to goals from Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Eddie Nketiah, and Gabriel Martinelli. Meanwhile, fellow title contenders Man City and Everton played to a shocking 1–1 draw.
Newcastle is third in the table and has given up only 11 goals all season, which is the best defensive record in the league. Tonight’s game will be one of Arsenal’s toughest of the season. In their last eight games against the Magpies, Arsenal has only lost once. However, that loss came in the most recent game, when Eddie Howe’s team beat the Gunners 2-0 last May.
