Arsenal continue their Mykhaylo Mudryk hunt with a reported improved offer after having an initial bid rejected
Arsenal are on the hunt for a new winger ahead of the second half of the season. Mikel Arteta has identified Mykhaylo Mudryk as the ideal signing to complete this target, and it seems the Gunners are growing closer to securing a deal.
Last week, we understand that Arsenal submitted a bid in region of £55million to sign Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk ahead of the January window. That bid was rejected, with the Ukrainian club holding out for a larger fee.
However, further reports have gone on to claim that Arsenal are reaching a breakthrough in securing the winger’s signature. The Gunners were first linked with Mudryk towards the end of the summer transfer window.
According to French news outlet Foot Mercato, Arsenal have submitted an improved offer for Mykhaylo Mudryk. The clubs are now in discussions regarding this offer and a deal is expected to happen. A contract with the player has already been agreed.
Arsenal have had an excellent start to the season as Mikel Arteta’s side currently top the Premier League table. The Gunners have only suffered one defeat in 16 matches this season. However, questions have arose on whether Arsenal can maintain their form for the remainder of the campaign.
The Gunners were unable to sign a winger in the summer transfer window, despite the clear need to strengthen in the wide areas. Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli have a lot of pressure to perform until the next opportunity to address this area of the pitch opens, but there is a risk of burnout.
With the Gunners projected to finish at least in a Champions League qualification spot next season, it is important that depth is added to the forward areas. Mudryk would certainly be an excellent acquisition and Arsenal are already putting themselves in a great position to secure a deal if reports are to be accurate.
