When they play Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Saturday afternoon, Manchester United will try to make it three wins in a row in the Premier League.
The Red Devils are currently fifth in the table, one point behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with a game in hand on the capital club. Wolves are 18th with 13 points from 16 games in 2022-23.
Julen Lopetegui is off to a good start as Wolves’ head coach. In his first two games in charge, the team has won both, including a 2-0 win over Gillingham in the EFL Cup on December 20.
Then, on Boxing Day, Wolves beat Everton 2-1 in the Premier League. The struggling team came from behind to win at Goodison Park. After Yerry Mina scored the first goal, Daniel Podence tied the game in the 22nd minute, and Rayan Ait-Nouri scored the winning goal in the 95th minute.
The result put the 2017-18 Championship winners in 18th place in the table, just one point behind 17th-placed Everton. Lopetegui’s arrival as head coach seems to have given the team an edge, as the 56-year-old has managed teams like Spain and Real Madrid in the past.
