Watch Manchester United vs Burnley LIVE match here

When Championship leaders Burnley come to Old Trafford on Wednesday night, Manchester United will be trying to get into the quarterfinals of the EFL Cup.

The Red Devils beat Aston Villa 4–2 to get to this round, while Burnley has beaten both Shrewsbury Town and Crawley Town so far in this season’s tournament.

Man United hasn’t played in a game since November 13, when they beat Fulham 2-1 in the Premier League. In the 93rd minute, Alejandro Garnacho scored the game-winning goal.

The result put the Red Devils in fifth place in the Premier League table, three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur but with a game in hand over the North London club. Erik ten Hag’s team will play again in the league on December 27 against Nottingham Forest, but right now they are focused on the EFL Cup.

In the last round of the competition, Man United beat Aston Villa 4–2. This season, they are trying to win the EFL Cup for the fifth time in their history.

The last time the 20-time English champions won the trophy was in 2017 when they beat Southampton. There is no doubt that Ten Hag will take this competition seriously as he tries to win a trophy in his first season.
