Mikel Arteta interest in signing £26m star for Arsenal has completely cooled after the World Cup

A report from LANCE in Brazil says that Arsenal’s interest in Danilo has completely died down before the January transfer window. This is a bit of a surprise.

The Gunners seemed to be getting close to a deal for the 21-year-old. Recent reports from 90min said that Mikel Arteta’s people were in advanced talks about a move for the Palmeiras starlet.

Lance says Arsenal was willing to pay $25.8 million to sign Danilo, and Edu was pushing for the Gunners to make a deal.

The report says that Arsenal’s interest in the young player has dropped sharply since the World Cup.

It is known that Arsenal wants to get a new striker after Gabriel Jesus got hurt badly and had to leave the team. Arteta is not as sure about Danilo, especially since he didn’t play for Brazil for the first time this year.

Before January, the Gunners made the right choice. Fans of Arsenal might have mixed feelings about the idea of looking elsewhere. Danilo is clearly a very smart and talented person. And the Gunners haven’t made many mistakes in the market lately.

But Arteta’s team is trying to win the league this season. And they will have to deal with that challenge for a while without their best striker.

This season, Eddie Nketiah has played well. But Arsenal needs to sign a new striker in January. So, it might not make a lot of sense for the club to spend nearly £26 million on Danilo right now.

Maybe they will think about Danilo again in the future. But if they have less money next month, Arsenal is probably making the right choice by seemingly looking elsewhere.
