Charles Watts compared Mykhaylo Mudryk to an Arsenal cult hero.
The Athletic reports that Mudryk is Arsenal’s top January signing.
The 21-year-old has been incredible for Shakhtar Donetsk this season, scoring three goals and assisting two in the Champions League group stage. He also has seven goals and six assists in just 12 Ukrainian top-flight matches.
Last season, he had two goals and seven assists in 11 Premier Liga games before the league was halted with Shakhtar on top.
Watts first noticed him after a breakout performance in the Champions League group stage against Real Madrid.
Watts said, “His ability to run with the ball, his low center of gravity, his pace, his movement, and his dribbling ability immediately caught my eye.
Since then, he’s always caught my eye, and he’s really matured in the last couple of seasons.
“He should move now.
Mudryk is a special talent and a real player, the more you watch him.
He could be like Jose Antonio Reyes, who helped Arsenal in the second half of the 2003-04 season.
Watts believes Mudryk can push Arsenal to the title like Jose Antonio Reyes.
The Spaniard joined Arsenal for £17m from Sevilla in January 2004 and started seven league games. His two Premier League goals were game-changers that twice kept Arsenal unbeaten.
Mudryk would go down in Arsenal history if he replicates Reyes’ success, and with Gabriel Jesus injured, he could make an immediate impact if a deal is reached soon.
