Armando Broja appeared to have suffered a serious injury after being replaced during a mid-season friendly match against Aston Villa.
Broja began the match in attack alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for Chelsea’s match against Premier League opposition in Abu Dhabi. However, after colliding with Ezri Konsa, Broja remained on the ground and screamed in pain.
Broja attempted to contest a ball in the Villa area when the Blues fell behind 1-0. Broja lay on the ground for a while before being carried away on a stretcher.
N’Golo Kante, Reece James, Wesley Fofana, and Ben Chilwell are all temporarily unavailable for Graham Potter, while Trevoh Chalobah was replaced despite being listed in the starting XI, adding to Chelsea’s backlog of injuries.
Broja doesn’t have a history of knee ailments, but the fact that he appeared to be in excruciating pain while gripping his leg raises serious doubts for the Blues going into the January transfer market.
