Fabrizio Romano says Manchester United is considering a bid for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is expected to leave Manchester United during the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old has played just four minutes this season, and the club is open to loan offers.
Romano says the club is considering a replacement. Frimpong is a January transfer target.
Leverkusen want €25 million for him. United hasn’t submitted a bid.
United could recall Ethan Laird from Queens Park Rangers to replace Wan-Bissaka.
Frimpong would rival Dalot.
Diogo Dalot started every game this season at right back. Wan-Bissaka failed to impress manager Erik ten Hag, leaving the Portuguese unopposed.
Ten Hag prefers full-backs who can attack and defend. Wan-lack Bissaka’s of final-third creativity has made him unpopular.
Frimpong would give United strong competition. He has eight goal involvements compared to Dalot’s three.
The 21-year-defense old’s also stands out. The Red Devils should sign him in January because he averages nearly two tackles per game.
Transfer could depend on forward spending. The club wants PSV Eindhoven’s Cody Gakpo.
If they overpay for Gakpo, the board may recall Laird as deputy. They could wait until summer to sign Frimpong.
