Ismael Bennacer’s return to The Emirates would be of interest to Arsenal.
According to a report from the Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), both the Arsenal and Chelsea have contacted the 25-year-old defensive midfielder for AC Milan to see if he would be interested in joining the Premier League in 2023.
The Serie A club is reportedly also in talks with the Algerian international to extend his contract at the San Siro, though his current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2024, according to the report.
However, Paolo Maldini is reportedly unwilling to part with the 25-year-old for anything less than €60m (£51.5m) in cash.
An earlier report by fellow Italian media outlet CalcioMercatoWeb even suggested that Mikel Arteta’s team would be willing to offer €20m (£17m) plus Thomas Partey in order to bring Bennacer back to north London.
