He reminds me of Alexis Sanchez and Luis Suarez – Joe Cole praises outstanding Arsenal player who has got great technique

Joe Cole, a former Chelsea midfielder, has nothing but admiration for the talented Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli. Cole compared Martinelli to former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and former Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.

In the summer of 2019, Martinelli transferred from Brazilian club Ituano to the Gunners for a fee of £6 million. In the past few years, he has advanced greatly. Over Emile Smith Rowe, the 21-year-old has solidified his position as a left flank starter for the first squad.

Since recovering from a knee injury in November of last year, the Brazilian, a technical dribbler famous for his speed and directness, has been a mainstay in Mikel Arteta’s plans. In eight Premier League starts this season, he has scored three goals and provided one assist, propelling the Gunners to the top of the rankings.

Martinelli, Gabriel
Cole praised Martinelli for his technique and tenacity on the ball when speaking on BT Sport (via Metro). He stated:

“This football player is exceptional. Since the first time I saw him, I have adored him. He’s very busy; he makes me think of Luiz Suarez and Alexis Sanchez. He has excellent ball control, superb technique, and has an impact on the game.”
He went on:

“He puts so much effort into his work, and I believed he was the North London Derby’s “Man of the Match” (on Saturday). When he gets the ball, he just keeps moving forward without thinking about turning around. He has such tenacity.”
Martin Keown, a former defender for Arsenal, added this:

“Martinelli is a player who is now progressing to the next level. He keeps getting better and plays with such assurance.”

In 94 appearances in various competitions for the north London team, Martinelli has tallied 21 goals and provided 14 assists.

With 21 points after eight games, Arsenal is in first place in the Premier League. They defeated Bodo Glimt 3-0 at home in the UEFA Europa League in midweek, and they will now face Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday, October 9.

Future Arsenal-Liverpool game outcome predicted by Paul Merson

Paul Merson, a former Arsenal forward, wrote a blog for Sportskeeda in which he discussed the match between Liverpool and Arsenal that took place at the Emirates on Sunday. He stated:

“The Reds will have a little more rest before the eagerly anticipated Premier League match, but based on recent results, Arsenal are definitely the favorites right now. I just like them, but I’m not as sure of myself as I was when I played Tottenham.”
Added him:

“They were not going to lose that game under any circumstances. This is a different test for the table toppers, so I’m not as convinced about it. This is a crucial game for the Gunners and could be Mikel Arteta’s hardest managerial challenge to date.”

Arsenal will likely defeat Liverpool 2-1.
