Gabriel Martinelli has been warned by Jurgen Klopp not to get too excited ahead of Arsenal’s match against Liverpool.

Trent Alexander-Arnold will ‘be up’ for Arsenal’s match against Liverpool, Gabriel Martinelli said. Mikel Arteta will welcome Jurgen Klopp’s side to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, October 9.

Liverpool has won both of the north Londoners’ last two matches against the Merseyside club. Arteta will want to clear his name with the club in good form.

Martinelli has started Arsenal’s last three games against Liverpool but has yet to win. The 21-year-old has directly contributed to four goals in eight Premier League games this season, and Alexander-Arnold is in a defensive rut.

The Brazil international has been warned that Liverpool star Salah will be ‘up’ for the game as Klopp looks to get the club’s season back on track. Campbell told Football Insider: “Martinelli caused Trent Alexander-Arnold problems last season.

“Inside, outside; using his pace, running at him. He wasn’t coming or going. Liverpool weathered the storm like always.

“Arsenal had chances, but didn’t take them,” he said. “They came back, won 2-0. It’s a key battle, and Martinelli did well in it last season.

“Listen, Liverpool will be up for this game. Trent Alexander-Arnold will be ready to go. And a win can get Liverpool’s season back on track.”

Campbell said Martinelli will be confident after his performance in the North London derby. The Brazilian didn’t score as Arsenal beat Spurs 3-1.

It’ll be tough, he said. “But Martinelli should be confident in that key battle after his Spurs performance.”

Martinelli’s influence on the fight was also noted. Granit Xhaka praised his teammate for the historic victory.

The Switzerland international said: “Gabriel Martinelli is a top candidate. It’s 100 mph. He’s got to see how far he can go. His team and environment help him.

“Three years ago, Mikel said he needed time, and you can see the results. We have a big squad with a lot of potential, and it shows. We have a different spirit and mentality, and you can tell.”
