Mikel Arteta has updated Arsenal’s team and injury news ahead of Saturday’s North London Derby.
Mikel Arteta took a familiar approach when discussing Arsenal team news before the North London Derby.
The Gunners’ buildup to Saturday’s game has centered on player availability. After returning from international duty early, Thomas Partey, Kieran Tierney, and Takehiro Tomiyasu.
Oleksandr Zinchenko missed the 3-0 win against Brentford with a calf injury, but worries about captain Martin Odegaard have subsided after he played in both of Norway’s UEFA Nations League games.
Tierney will be available for Arsenal’s kickoff against Tottenham, and Partey, Tomiyasu, and Zinchenko could play.
As expected, Arteta was asked about his squad in a pre-match press conference on Friday. While he didn’t give too much away, he did confirm the players trained beforehand.
The Spaniard just finished training. “Many players arrived yesterday, so we had little time to prepare, but the boys look good.”
When asked if Partey, Zinchenko, and Tierney are fit and available, Arteta said, “They’re part of the team.” This may give Arsenal fans hope that the trio can play.
Mohamed Elneny, Cedric Soares, and Emile Smith Rowe are out for Arsenal. On Thursday, it was announced that he had surgery to fix an ongoing groin issue. He is expected to return to training in December.
