Arsen Zakharyan, a playmaker for Dynamo Moscow, has said that he agreed to move to Chelsea last month, but that the move fell through.
Thomas Tuchel really wanted to get the 19-year-old midfielder because he wants to have more options in the middle of the field.
The Russian midfielder’s contract has a release clause for £12.6 million, and Chelsea were ready to use it because they knew other teams were interested.
But the move was stopped because it would have been hard for Chelsea to send the money to the Russian club while Russia was still invading Ukraine.
But Zakharyan is still hoping to move to Chelsea, and the playmaker is hoping that a deal can be made in January.
“There was an offer, but it didn’t work out. He told Sport Express, “I’m sure you know why.”
“How could I turn you down? I agreed to the move right away.
“I hope that everything goes well. What’s the next one? Maybe.
“Of course, the level is much higher there than in the Russian Premier League, but anything is possible.”
“It might work there.” I could always borrow the money.
Both Todd Boehly and Tuchel agree that the team’s midfield is a top priority, and the German will be given a lot of money to spend on it in the next two windows.
Edson Alvarez, an Ajax midfielder, was a top target in the last few days of the transfer window, but Chelsea’s attempt to sign the Mexican for £40 million fell through.
Ajax didn’t want to sell, especially since they had already lost players like Antony and Lisandro Martinez.
