Thomas Tuchel, the manager of Chelsea, is hopeful that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be able to play sooner than expected, maybe even as soon as next week.
Aubameyang won’t be able to play against West Ham on Saturday because he had to go to Italy to get a protective face mask put on.
The 33-year-old man had his jaw broken when armed thieves broke into his home in Barcelona.
“We try, but we wear masks. It kind of depends on what the experts who make the mask for him say.
“And then how he adjusts to the mask, so it could be Tuesday [against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League], but it could also be very soon. So it could be Fulham or it could be a week later.
“The latest would be after the national break, but we try to move things up, and Auba is happy to do so. “Right now, he’s at the specialist getting his mask fixed, and I think he’ll try it out in training on Sunday,” Tuchel said.
