Paul Merson said that Arsenal has a million miles to go before they can win the Premier League.
Arsenal has had a perfect start to the new season, winning all five Premier League games they have played so far.
It’s clear that Mikel Arteta’s team has moved on quickly from the disappointing end to the last season. The club missed out on a spot in the Champions League by two points, and Tottenham Hotspur, another team from north London, finished in fourth place.
But tomorrow afternoon, when Manchester United plays at Old Trafford in what looks like it will be a very exciting game, the north Londoners have a great chance to increase their lead at the top of the table.
Paul Merson, a former player for Arsenal, is very happy with how well his old team has started, but he has warned them that they can’t lose on Sunday. He also said that they are still “a million miles” away from winning the Premier League.
In his Daily Star column, he said, “With five games played, five wins, and first place in the table, the Gunners have done everything that could be asked of them so far.” “They are off to a good start, which is what every team wants.
“But it’s just the beginning. And the game at Old Trafford will be their first true test of the season.
“I’m not saying anything good about United. But they aren’t bad either, and if they won, it would be their fourth win in a row.
“Neither team will win the championship any time soon. Even though the Gunners have 15 points from 15 games, I don’t think they will win the league.
“What they don’t want, though, is to lose at United. Then, all the old jokes about them will come back.”
It’s definitely Arsenal’s first big test, but they should see it as a chance to make a big statement against one of the so-called “big six” clubs.
