This summer, Chelsea spent a lot of money, giving Thomas Tuchel the tools he needs to put together some exciting new teams at Stamford Bridge.

Todd Boehly hasn’t hesitated much in his temporary role as the club’s sporting director, even though he has put a lot of money into the club.

Since 2003, Chelsea has been one of the clubs in Europe that spends the most on transfers. However, no Premier League club has ever spent as much as Chelsea did during the summer transfer window of 2022. We spent about £250 million on new players. Some will join the first team right away, while some buy others with the future in mind.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona and Denis Zakaria on loan from Juventus were the last two players to join the team after the window closed.

Both are unlikely to play in Chelsea’s match against West Ham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon. Still, with Champions League games starting next Tuesday, Thomas Tuchel will need to use the depth of his squad to make up for poor performances and results.

Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Marc Cucurella have become regulars in the German’s starting lineup since they arrived. Wesley Fofana is expected to do the same now that his £70 million move from Leicester City has been confirmed.

Now that the transfer window is closed and the spending spree is over let’s look at the best team Tuchel could put together for Chelsea with his new players.

Mendy, Fofana, Silva, Koulibaly, James, Kovacic, Kante, Cucurella, Mount, Aubameyang, and Sterling are the players who start for Chelsea.

Wesley Fofana joins Tuchel’s back three on the right side. This lets Reece James run down the wing and cause trouble. Kouliable and Cucurella make up Chelsea’s defense on the left side.

When everyone is healthy, it looks like Zakaria will have to fight to get ahead of his midfield teammates. Mateo Kovacic is likely to reclaim his spot soon.

Up top, Aubameyang is in an excellent position to take over for Kai Havertz, who hasn’t done much so far. He could form an attacking duo with Sterling, who has scored three goals in his last two games.
