EXPOSED! Ramsdale says what’s bothering him about Arsenal defenders.

Aaron Ramsdale says that he and Gabriel Magalhaes, a Brazilian defender, had trouble talking to each other last season. In the summer, the English goalkeeper was signed by the Gunners before the transfer window closed.

Gabriel was one of the first players Mikel Arteta brought to the Gunners, and he had been playing at the Emirates since the season before.

Bernd Leno’s long-term replacement, Ramsdale, was brought in as Arsenal kept adding young players to their team. Goalies and their defenders often need to be able to talk to each other on the field in order to work well together. Ramsdale knows how important it is, but Gabriel’s lack of communication skills made it hard.

On the Kelly and Wrighty Show, he said:

“Over the course of my career, it’s been very easy for me.”

But when we first joined, especially last year, and Kieran, Big Gab, Ben, and Tomi trained together every day, it was easy for us to get along.

“Gabi’s English is getting better, but it was hard for him to understand what we were saying last year. It might have helped him if we showed him how we felt instead of just talking to him.”

It’s great to hear that Arsenal players used hand gestures and other methods to help Gabriel understand. Almost certainly, this helped them do better in the last campaign.

They are off to a good start this season, and Gabriel seems to have gotten better. If newcomer William Saliba doesn’t speak English well enough, they might have done the same thing to him.
