Fabrizio Romano once again talked about Arsenal’s interest in Youri Tielemans in an interview with WettFreunde.
It’s been almost nine months since it was said that Arsenal met with Tielemans’ agents at London Colney, but with only three days left in the transfer window, Arsenal has yet to make a move for the Belgian.
Romano keeps talking about this, saying that Tielemans is at the top of Arsenal’s transfer wish list and that there’s a big chance that this deal will go through.
What’s been said?
Romano talked about what was going on with Tielemans.
“Let’s see what Leicester does first. They made a lot of money when they sold Wesley Fofana to Chelsea. So they have to figure out what to do with the price tag for Youri Tielemans.”
“Right now, there aren’t any direct talks with a formal offer.
“But I can say for sure that the player has always been at the top of Arsenal’s list. Because there is a huge chance, I would keep him on Arsenal’s list of possible players.”
Will Leicester sell?
We have no doubt at all that Arsenal is very interested in Tielemans. In fact, to say that this is widely known is an understatement. At this point, though, we have to wonder if Leicester City would sell him.
The Foxes have had a bad start to the season, and while alarm bells won’t be going off at the King Power Stadium just yet, they won’t want to make their team any weaker at this point.
Wesley Fofana seems to be going to Chelsea for a lot of money, so Leicester shouldn’t have too much trouble with cash flow. This means that the East Midlands club won’t feel as much pressure to make this sale.
Yes, Tielemans is about to enter the last year of his contract, so this is City’s last chance to cash in. However, given how poorly they’ve started the season so far, selling now could be the worst thing that could happen.
