If reports are true, Arsenal has been interested in signing Wilfried Zaha, a star player for Crystal Palace, for the past three years.
Before the summer transfer window closes on Thursday, the Gunners are looking for a new forward to sign. Former Arsenal manager Unai Emery wanted to bring Wilfried Zaha to the Emirates Stadium in 2019. However, Palace turned down a £40 million offer, so the move didn’t happen. Instead, Zaha’s Ivory Coast teammate Nicolas Pepe joined Arsenal for £72 million.
Zaha has said in the past that he has always been a fan of Arsenal, which could give them an advantage if Chelsea also wants to sign the 29-year-old player. This summer, Arsenal’s technical director Edu could finally sign Zaha. Mikel Arteta is hoping to add one or two more players to his team before the end of the season.
The star player for Crystal Palace has had a great start to the 2022–23 season, scoring three goals in three games. However, he missed the loss to Manchester City because he hurt his leg in the 3–1 win over Aston Villa. Fabrizio Romano says that Zaha’s agents have been looking into options for the player during the transfer window this summer. His current deal at Selhurst Park only has one year left on it.
Reports say that if Chelsea can’t sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Anthony Gordon before the transfer deadline, they will try to sign Wilfried Zaha instead. Arsenal could deal a big blow to Chelsea’s transfer plans if they sign the star player from Palace before Todd Boehly starts talks.
Zaha was reportedly close to moving to Italy to play for Jose Mourinho’s Roma team before the Serie A team decided to sign Paulo Dybala for free instead. After Nicolas Pepe went on loan, the Gunners could use another attacker to compete with Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Emilio Smith Rowe, and Fabio Vieira.
In 433 games for the Eagles, the 29-year-old has scored 86 goals and helped set up another 73. However, he may be leaving Selhurst Park this summer. Zaha hasn’t shown any sign of wanting to sign a new contract with Patrick Vieira’s team, and with only four days left in the transfer window, interest is starting to grow. Arsenal is rumored to be considering making a move for the Palace superstar to finish a three-year transfer mission.
