The Daily Mail says that Premier League club Chelsea is still interested in signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, but there are two big problems in their way.

This summer, Chelsea has been linked to moves for both Aubameyang and De Jong.

Thomas Tuchel’s team has been at odds with Barcelona all summer because they were unable to get Raphinha and Jules Kounde from the Catalan club.

Barcelona wanted to sign Cesar Azpilicueta, who is the captain of Chelsea. However, the defender put an end to rumors about his future by signing a new contract that will keep him at the west London club until 2024.

Also, Marcos Alonso has been linked with a move to Barcelona, and Chelsea has shown interest in Aubameyang and De Jong.

But Barcelona needs to solve two major problems before Chelsea can sign either Aubameyang or De Jong. The first is a wage dispute with Aubameyang, and De Jong’s price is too high for the Premier League club to match.

With only a week left in the summer transfer window, De Jong and Aubameyang would have to leave quickly. This would leave Chelsea with little time to sign other players if they didn’t get a double deal for both players.

De Jong is still waiting for a deal on his pay. The Dutch star is already owed £17 million by Barca in amortisations and back pay.

De Jong’s future is unlikely to be decided until this is settled, and Chelsea is waiting for the La Liga giants to lower their valuation of Aubameyang so they can sign the Gabonese striker.
