Arsenal’s perfect start to the season continued when they beat Fulham after falling behind.
The visitors did a great job on defence at Emirates Stadium, and when Aleksandar Mitrovic put them ahead in the 56th minute, it looked like they might get all three points.
Shortly after that, though, Martin Odegaard scored for Arsenal, and Gabriel scored the game-winning goal in the 85th minute.
The Gunners have won all four of their first games this season and are now back on top of the Premier League.
Simon Collings watched Arsenal play at Emirates Stadium…
Aaron Ramsdale 7
Wasn’t doing much, but when Mitrovic headed the ball in from a corner, he made a huge save. Late in the game, he made another great save to stop Nathaniel Chalobah.
Ben White 7
Had another good game at right back, where he seems to be getting more comfortable every week. Made some strong, driving runs forward.
William Saliba 7
The Frenchman kept up his good play with a strong showing here. Again, he was very calm with the ball and dealt well with Mitrovic’s strength.
Gabriel 6
The Brazilian had a crazy afternoon. He made a terrible mistake that led to Fulham’s goal, but then he scored the game-winner for Arsenal late in the game.
Kieran Tierney 6
Had a pretty good game at left back, but he didn’t have anything like Oleksandr Zinchenko. Looked good on the overlap, but had trouble getting into the middle of the field.
Martin Odegaard 8 | Star player
He scored Arsenal’s goal and was their best player for the whole game. Around Fulham, he made some nice touches and passes.
Mohammed Elneny 6
He kept things simple and neat in the middle of the field. Not a bad stand-in for Thomas Partey, but he can’t pass as well as the Ghana international.
Granit Xhaka 7
The midfielder had another good game. He is in the best shape he has been in since he joined Arsenal. In the first half, he came close with a shot.
Bukayo Saka 6
He still doesn’t look his best, and his afternoon was hard. Had a great chance in the first half, but missed it. He did, however, help Odegaard score.
Gabriel Jesus 6
Did a lot of work, both on and off the ball, but didn’t have much fun. Had a few chances to score, but Fulham did a good job of crowding him out.
Gabriel Martinelli 6
He wasn’t at his best, but he tried to make things happen. He got to the byline with a few strange runs, but his last ball was not good enough.
Substitutions
Eddie Nketiah (Tierney at 61′) 6
Off the bench, he looked active and gave Arsenal an extra threat behind the lines. Martinelli’s cutback was a good chance that was missed.
Takehiro Tomiyasu (Jesus 89′) N/A
Rob Holding (Odegaard 90′) N/A
Turner, Smith Rowe, Cedric, Vieira, Sambi Lokonga, and Marquinhos were not used as subs.
