Memphis Depay’s move to Juventus may not have gone through, but the 28-year-old player could still leave Camp Nou before the transfer window closes.
Manchester United has been interested in the 28-year-old player, but the latest news from El Desmarque says that Real Sociedad is already in talks with Barcelona to sign Depay on loan for the rest of the season.
The 28-year-old striker moved to Camp Nou last summer. He tied with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the club’s most goals scored in 2021/22, with 13 in all competitions.
But when Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha joined Xavi’s team, they made Depay unnecessary. The move to Juventus was almost done, but the Bianconeri called off the deal and instead signed Arkadiusz Milik.
But Depay could still leave Barcelona and join a team where he can play more often. Real Sociedad has become a possible destination for the Dutch international.
Alexander Isak left La Real for Newcastle United earlier today, leaving a huge hole in their attack. Imanol Alguacil’s team is already working on a deal to get RB Leipzig’s Alexander Sorloth, but they also want to sign Depay.
Real Sociedad has already started talking with Barcelona about the 28-year-possible old’s loan move. But his salary might be too high for the Basque club.
If Depay chose to move to San Sebastian, Real Sociedad could offer him Europa League games, just like Manchester United. Both of the teams that want to sign the Barcelona forward are in the same group in Europe’s secondary continental competition.
The report says that the move is “gaining strength” and that Sociedad is ready to step up their efforts to sign Depay because there isn’t much time left before the transfer window closes. It remains to be seen if the Dutch star wants to move to the Basque club.
