Player Ratings: Arsenal 2-1 Swansea City – Rowe, Fabio Vieira and Cedric Soares feature in Premier League Cup match

1) James Hillson: 7/10 – Always the same

2) Cedric Soares: 8/10. A model pro, he captained the Young Guns at Meadow Park after being left out of the first team’s matchday squad against the Foxes because he needs to build up his match fitness. Used a great free kick in the first half to beat Swans goalkeeper Archie Matthews and win the game. He is reliable and works well with his fellow countryman, the exciting Fabio Vieria.

3) Lino Sousa: 8/10. Swans No. 6 Joe Thomas fouled Lino Sousa with a dangerous tackle, so referee Matthew Russell had no choice but to give Thomas a red card. The young defender is one to watch because he has done well and is sure of himself.

4) Taylor Foran: 7.5/10. He was strong, didn’t give up, and enjoyed the fight.

5) Zach Awe: 8/10. He was a smart defender who blocked and tackled with great timing. This talented center back, who stood out during Kevin Betsy’s Papa John’s Trophy run last year, is set for a big season.

6) Miguel Azeez: 6/10 – Underwhelming

7) Fabio Vieira: 7.5/10 for creativity and vision. From right midfield, a smooth left foot. When the summer signing that cost £34 million finally makes his debut, Arsenal fans will be in for a treat.

8) Amario Cozier-Duberry: 7/10. Sometimes had trouble getting into the game but still tried hard.

9) Nathan Butler-Oyedeji: 7/10 – He didn’t have as much power as he would have liked, but it wasn’t for lack of trying.

10) Smith Emile Rowe: 7/10 Smith Saturday, he came on as a late substitute in Arsenal’s 4–2 win over Leicester. He had missed the team’s Premier League opener at Crystal Palace because of a groin injury. It’s good to see him back in the starting lineup for Arsenal. In cameos, he worked well with Fabio Vieira and got 45 important minutes on his legs as he tries to get back into the first team.

11) Joel Ideho: 8/10. The 19-year-old Dutch attacker with Nigerian roots put on a lively show, and the right-footed winger tied the game for the Young Guns after Josh Thomas scored an early goal for the Swans. Another great game after he scored the winning goal from a long way out in a pre-season game against St. Albans earlier this month.

Substitutes:

7/10 for Catalin Cirjan – Replaced During the break, Emile Smith Rowe

Mauro Bandeira: 7.5/10. He came on at halftime to replace Fabio Vieira. Hit the post and just missed the goal with shots in the second half.

Tim Akinola: 7/10 – Azeez came on late but didn’t do much.

7.5/10 for Henry Jeffcott – Cognizant and determined, with a strong will to win. Since a preseason game at Hitchin Town in 2019, the Gooner has been keeping track of his progress. This talented young player is definitely one to watch this season.
